Poustin-C
Poustin-C
Polyethoxylated ascorbic acid
Poustin-C is a unique, patented form of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) that is designed to be extremely stable whilst still being highly available to animals.
Poustin-C is a unique polyethoxylated ascorbic acid product that is suitable for inclusion into feeds for fish, shrimp and poultry. Its stable structure can tolerate temperatures of 120 °C for long periods of time (>3 days) making it an ideal choice for use in extruded animal feeds.
The bond that releases the free ascorbic acid component of Poustin-C can only be broken by enzymes released in the intestines of animals, ensuring very high availability to the animal while being extremely stable in the harsh feed production environment.
Poustin-C has advantages over other ascorbic acid sources in shrimp diets where feed pellets are exposed to water for periods of time. Other ascorbic acid sources, including ascorbyl-2-phosphates can lose up to 40% of the vitamin C availability after only 5 minutes in water and 50% after 2 hours. Poustin-C loses little of its activity when exposed to water for over 3 months!
Poustin-C is highly available low inclusion rate additive to aid in times of stress, such as temperature and disease, in broilers and layers.
Poustin-C is more cost effective than other ascorbic acid products on an uptake basis making it an excellent choice for aquaculture and poultry diets.
