Reporcin

Porcine somatotropin (pST)

Product Description
Reporcin (porcine somatotropin, or pST) is a protein naturally produced by the brain of pig and is the main factor controlling growth and metabolism. Reporcin is administered to finishing pigs when their natural levels of pST are in decline to ensure that they continue to deposit muscle tissue and reduce the amount of fat in the carcass. Reporcin reduces feed intake, increases growth rate, improves feed efficiency, inhibits fat deposition and increases lean meat content when administered to finishing pigs for 28-42 days prior to slaughter.

Active Ingredient
Porcine somatotropin (pST)

Stability
Reporcin should be stored under refrigerated conditions. It should only be stored for 48 hours after reconstitution (dissolution in sterile diluent). Reporcin has a shelf life of 5 years as a lyophilized powder.

Safety
Humans: pST is not active in humans, either orally or by injection. If taken orally pST is broken down by gastric enzymes like all other proteins. Exogenously administered pST has a short half life and does not accumulate in the body. The safety of Reporcin has been evaluated and confirmed by the APVMA and the NHMRC.

Animals: Reporcin is a non-toxic protein, producing no adverse effects when used as directed. pST is not active in other livestock species.
